If your family doesn’t run to the table, maybe it is time to take an honest look at your cooking routine and see if you have fallen into a menu rut. Generate some mealtime enthusiasm and put a smile on your family’s faces with some fresh new ideas that are sure to please.

To get extra moist chocolate chip cookies, add a packet of dried vanilla pudding mix to any recipe. You do not have to add the other ingredients for the pudding recipe or even add extra moisture to your existing recipe. Simply adding the powdered mix helps the cookies to attain a smoother, softer texture.

Soak peeled raw potatoes in cold water before frying them. If soaked in cold water for at least an hour, the potatoes will be much crisper once done. If you don’t like soggy french fries, this is the perfect strategy for helping your french fries remain crisp and delectable after frying.

If you are not very skilled at cooking, it is better to go with less spice than to go overboard with it. If you do not know the strengths of the spices instead of the food tasting good, it will taste over spiced.

Experiment with different breadings for everything from chicken to vegetables to appetizers. To add an extra dimension of flavor to breaded foods, try using coatings other than the usual breadcrumbs or panko. Get creative! Cereals like corn flakes, toasted o’s, and crispy rice work well too. Keep portions small when you are serving multiple course meals. Many people make the mistake of overdoing it when they are portioning courses. If you fill your guests up on salad or bread, they will have no room left for dessert. They may not even have room left for the main course at that rate.
