Bristol Gorillas
Bristol is the home of the BBC's Natural History Unit and one of the gorillas commissioned by Bristol Zoo in honour of its 175 Birthday, was hosted there.

There are 60 of them and have been displayed around Bristol and District during the summer. Today they were auctioned off. They expected to make £1,500 each, but this was a low estimate. In the main they fetched £5,000.00 each and one reached £23,000.00. In all they made £427,000.00.

Bristol Zoo has a gorilla conservation program and most of this money will be going to it.
