Mastering Google+ on your Website or Blog

The +1 feature is an incredibly useful feature of Google+.

It works in a very similar way to the “Like”  button on Facebook, allowing other users to share links. Clearly, the more people who Google+1 a particular link, the more exposure it will receive.

Thus, it is important to make it as easy as possible for people to Google+ your content.10 Quick Tips For Google+

First, you will want to Google+1 your own content. Some of the people who see your post may also add a +1 to it, thus automatically getting the link some additional exposure to their contacts. However, you can greatly increase the number of people who give you a +1 by adding a +1 button to your website pages and blog posts.

You can do this by inserting a +1 button via:

Here’s how to do put a Google+1 button on your website:

  1. Select a size. You can choose from 4 different sizes - pick one that will look best on your page while grabbing attention.
  2. Select a width and annotation type if you’d like to include one. The annotation is the note that pops up when someone mouses over the +1 button. By default, it says, “Click here to publicly +1 this as Your Name.”
  3. Copy the code for the button and paste it into your website wherever you’d like the +1 button to show.
Now all that is great if you are comfortable with html and understand the terminology used!!

However, if you have a blog, you may wish to use a plugin to make it easier to insert the code in the right spot without having to mess around with code.

Take it from me - this is the best option for most of us!

There are a couple of different plugins available for WordPress, including http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-plus-one and http://wordpress.org/plugins/google-plus-one-google1.

I just went to "Install New Plug In" - and found one called Google Plus 1 Easy Button - it is dead easy - you can put it anywhere on your page using a "short code" - which you put into the html of your WordPress page, anywhere you want and it picks up the page all on its own - its really simple and looks like this:

 [plus1 size=tall]http://thewealthfactory2020.com/adding-google-to-your-website-or-blog[/plus1]

Simply install the plugin copy the short code that it shows by the plugin in the plugins section onto you blog page - in the html editor - and just replace the sample url with the url of your blog page or post - to have a Google+1 button show up in all of your blog posts.

It defaults to "small" - just change that to standard, medium or tall depending on your preference.

The example above is set as "tall" to demonstrate. If anyone has any challenges with this - skype connect mplaptop32.

You can download a free Mastering Google+ booklet from here - click to download.

Google+ is clearly going to play a great part one way or another in our "Online" lives, so I hope that is useful. Best wishes, Mark
