Is Offshore Outsourcing Another Sweat Shop?

I have been approached by many company owners who have expressed their concern about offshore outsourcing.

One of them actually said this to me;

"Seriously Daven, are you saying that I can get an employee to work for me at less than a thousand dollars ($1,000) a month?! What kind of business are you running? A sweat shop! Where workers will slave all day and get paid peanuts at the end of each month!"

I totally understand your concern, and I must say I have a lot of respect for company owners who do not want to take undue advantage on other people. For a lot of American business owners, it is really not all about making money; it is all about adding value to life. I am a very strong believer of "let and let live".

Because many offshore outsourcing nations such as the Philippines, India and China do not have strict labor laws, that is why these countries provide quality outsourcing solutions at affordable costs.

Yes, in the United States, it is impossible to for a lot of people to live below a thousand dollars, especially people who live in large and popular cities like New York and Los Angeles. But, in other countries such as the Philippines, 300 to 1000 dollars is a lot of money, as a matter of fact, many people in the Philippines earn less way less than this. You will be glad to know that in many developing countries, 350 dollars is a lot of money when converted to the local currency. In the Philippines for instance, with 500 a month, one can cover the cost of rent, food and other living expenses – I should know, I go there all the time!

A lot of us have watched the music video by Kanye West "Blood Diamonds", where poor malnourished children work in the diamond mines searching for diamonds which were sold illegally to jewelry makers in Europe and America. No one will want to part with their money to purchase an item that was produced out of someone else's blood and sweat.

When it comes to offshore outsourcing in the Philippines, please know that paying an outsourced employee 347 to 1000 dollars a month is very fair deal.
