How You Can Stop Wasting Your Valuable Time Gday everyone and welcome to Friday - Yay! wasting time I haven't been as productive as I like to be this week which led me to think about my own personal time management practices and where I can increase my productivity. I know lots of people struggle with not having enough hours in the day so today we are going to talk about time management and what you can do to stop wasting your valuable time and how you can become more productive. Ask yourself these questions: • Am I working effectively? • Is the work I do efficient? • Do I have many fruitful hours of work or am I always distracted? There are a number of time management tips to help you organize your office or workplace time more effectively and efficiently to get more out of your usual work day. Workplace Time Management Tips: 1.) Ditch your email and learn to love message bank! Rather than being constantly distracted by your email and answering your telephone, let your calls go to message bank, and set a firm time to check your email accounts. You wont get much done if you are constantly distracted from doing 'actual work'. If you can make an appointment with yourself to answer calls and messages at a particular time of the day, you will be able to focus more clearly on the task at hand so you can get more out of your time. Minimize distractions as much as possible, such as using the phone and the computer to read e-mails while working . 2.) Make a to-do list for the days ahead. Time management 101 says write a To-Do list. Most people who write a to-do list will go about it backwards and attack the easiest jobs on the list first. If you want to feel like you have made major accomplishments for the day - attack the hardest thing on the list first and then move on - this is very empowering because once you have nailed that main job - everything else seems so quick and easy to get done. 3.) Keeping your workplace clean and organized clean up time managementOne of the major causes of ineffective time management, especially in the workplace, is not keeping your desk or office organized. Keep your office clean and tidy so you won’t waste your time searching for things that you need. Doing this also minimizes items from going missing as you would know exactly where you left them. 4.) Dividing Your Workload You don’t have to do everything yourself. You can divide your work with others or flat out outsource tasks and have them completed for you instead of by you. This not only cuts time in terms of finishing your days to-do list but it will also take the pressure off and allow you to work more comfortably. When you know someone is better at something than you, take advantage of that and you will get the job done faster and most likely to a better standard. 5.) Prioritizing [box color="red-vibrant" type="square" icon="asterisk"]Deciding upon and listing your major priorities is vital. You are far more likely to forget something important if it's not written down! Tweet It![/box]   6.) Set smart goals Setting goals that are achievable, rewarding, specific, and timely and then making those things happen feels fantastic! Follow this little plan for a S.M.A.R.T. goal..... Make sure your goals are: S - Sensible M - Measureable A - Achieveable R - Realistic T - Timed and then your aim is to accomplish the task in the set time. If you can do this you will be winning!
