Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy

there is no one whose work will every compare to your own unique way of doing things and therefore to you unique results as a painter once you get beyond learning for yourself what the basics of what you feel that you need to express yourself - and therefore the only competition so to speak that you or anyone has is yourself and your own work - how does this piece compare with that piece in your own collection and are there any improvements that you wish to make or want to see in one or the other or are there any developments from where one image is that you want to make as you venture on in your journey through life -

think about this John - I have never even seen nor perhaps will I ever in real life such a scene as both of you have painted and shown us above - but for me there are other places that perhaps you have never seen nor might you ever except if you take the time and view some of the images in my collection - that is the value of seeing other people's work here or on Facebook or in a magazine - or in a television program - this means in no way that your art is better than mine or that mine is better than yours but that there is value in everyone's art to help expand and fulfill everyone's life by your art and my art existing at all -

I have never again seen such a scene as this that I saw during my very first airplane trip and perhaps I never will again (I do not fly much at all now) but this image has stayed with me and shows up in many of my images indeed:
